I get what I paid for. The hotdogs are good for the price and the atmosphere could use a bit of work. I love the burgers so I recommend them to anyone that goes here.

Great food, reasonably priced, and I work down the street so it's convenience for me. Very nice staff

Recently a tragedy has occurred. The old Greek couple who've been running this place for years have decided to turn the reigns over to a couple of Mexican guys. I don't know if they sold it, or if they're just tired of coming home smelling like grease and have taken on the hombres to run it for them, but the quality has plummeted. Well I'm guessing they sold it because now they sell burritos and tacos and other bullshit. Anyway, the fries suck now, and the gyro meat seems, well, a bit stale. They say you can never go home again, and _sniffle_ this time it is all too true. Good bye, Doggie Diner, thanks for the memories and all of the expanded fat cells. You shall be missed. :(

Not sure if this is/was the same place that was in Carol Stream for years and then moved out about 15 years ago - the Carol Stream location had some of the best food back in the day. The employees have shirts on that say "since 1974", so I assume it is the same traditional place. Either way, the place here using the same name is under different owners now. Food is very decent and they usually have specials. Good Vienna hotdogs, beefs, and burgers. Are they the best of the best hotdogs around? Probably not - but their 2-dog special and fries is better than most of the competition which - at some places (ie. Scooby's) - will charge you almost double for the same amount of food. I'd recommend if you are in the area and want to grab something quick on your way home. They have a large menu and I cannot comment on everything on the menu per se, but their hotdogs, fries, and cheeseburgers are VERY GOOD. I will be back.

This is a dive hot dog place but mostly serves Mexican food. Everything I have had here is good. The hot dogs are on a non poppy seed bun which is my preference. My co-workers eat here and said that the other items on the menu are good as well. I will be hitting here every week.

I love their hamburgers & burritos! Really good taste & freshly made. Live one block away so I like picking it up & taking it home to eat with my family.

Doggie Diner is a small eatery located off of Glen Ellyn Road in Glendale Heights. From what I can tell it's unrelated to another Doggie Diner that I reviewed in Woodridge some time ago. This doggie diner is located in a small strip mall and is a fairly small place on the inside, when you walk in there's a few tables set up along with a long counter were you can place your order and see your food prepared. In visiting Doggie Diner I saw a two hot dog special with fries and a drink for 4.55, surprised by how low the price was this is what I decided to order. The hot dogs I received came on dry not exactly soft non-poppy seed buns. The pickle spears included were about average thickness but not long enough to get a taste of pickle in every bite. The two tomato slices included were fairly thinly cut but between the two of them also weren't long enough to get tomato taste in every bite. There were two sport peppers on each dog, they had the same problem as the pickle and tomato slice, not enough of it on the dog. The application of the mustard was a little light, the same goes for the onion. There was a decent amount of relish on both dogs relative to the mustard and onion. The sausage itself was skinless and was heated well enough. I didn't detect any celery salt on this hot dog. Overall it wasn't terrible, but it seemed a bit unbalanced, a longer pickle, extra sport pepper and extra tomato slice would have helped. The fries included were long cut crispy fries, these were actually pretty good. The fries were a bit greasy, and a bit salty but had a nice potato paste flavor on the inside. I'd say the fries were better than the hot dog. Overall I'd say this Doggie Diner came in a little below average for Chicago style hot dogs. The dry bun and odd balance of condiments causes me to give this a rating of not recommended.

I was really hoping this place would be as good as the other doggie diner in woodridge, but ended up pretty disappointed. I ordered a gyro and fries which cost $8, no drink. What I got was a bland sandwich with hardly any tzaziki sauce and mediocre fries. The gyro was pretty small besides not being tasty. I won't be back here again. If you're looking for a decent gyro do yourself a favor & skip this place. Try Charkie's on Fullerton & Schmale.

The Greek ma and pa who used to run this joint used to know how to do it: fresh gyros off the spit, Cubs game always on the tube, and crazy greek dishes that you couldnt get just anywhere. They have since sold the place to a Mexican dude and his friends. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying that the Mexicans dont know how to cook. In fact, 99% of my favorite restaurants all have Mexicans doing the cooking. The problem with THESE guys is that they JUST DONT GET IT. A gyros isnt just a gyros because you throw some gyro meat, onion, tomato and some white sauce onto a pita. A gyros is an experience: a giant cylinder of seasoned processed lamb (or chicken) that spins throughout the day, being constantly heated to retain its flavor, and is shaved and browned on a skillet. A chewy delicious pita buttered and grilled. Delicious tziziki sauce that is homemade from some ancient Greek gyro recipe. Instead, the meat is pre-shaven, (not even sure if they shave it to be honest), as my gyro bits (more like large sized bacon bits) were taken out of a metal bin and thrown onto the grill. The pita wasnt even browned and the tzitziki sauce had no flavor to it. These guys should take a page out of Gyros Express successful menu. Make a perfect gyros with fresh thinly sliced gyros meat right off the cylinder and you can charge whatever you want for it. Anyway, I'd give these guys a 3/5 stars if they did Mexican food well, and well, I'm gonna have to give them a 2.

Emotional eating heaven. Long day at work? Don't feel like making jack? Well the Doggie diner is there for you. Riding high on a carb, fat, ketchup induced sugar high makes everything better. The two old world mom and pop that own this place are cute. They have signs posted about how they aren't your parents and pick up your own crap and how manners go along way. The old guys is kinda cranky and if you don't know what you want or don't understand what he is saying he get's kinda impatient with you. But if you are on your best behavior they are real good to you. I usually get a Gyro meal which comes with fries and a drink. They have RC cola which I hear is pretty rare. Also their baklava isn't too bad either. EDIT********************************************** Sadface. Please come back old couple, this place sucks without you. The Hispanic dudes are nice, but they don't know how you imbue your Greek magic into the gyros.

Great dogs and food. Not so clean and classy but for a Doggie joint, a quick bite, I'd say yes. Gyros are good and even the Burger tastes well so feel free to put it in your lunch rotation!
